Vietnamese Blue Bell – Exposed Root – 8″ Pot

SCIENTIFIC NAME: Trifidacanthus unifoliolatus
COMMON NAME: Vietnamese Blue Bell

UNIQUE CHARACTERISTICS: Exposed roots! Grown by developing roots in tall container using perlite.  Over time perlite washes out naturally, or it can be removed when repotting.

Formerly known as ‘DESMODIUM’ Vietnamese Blue Bell, produces a beautiful fragrant purple flower that smells like grapes and large thorns. Gnarly bark and great nebari! Desmodium likes full sun and moderate water and fertilizer. Tropical tree, please keep away from freezing temperatures. The genus name, Trifidacanthus, refers to the unique, three-pointed spines which interestingly develop from old inflorescence stems and flower stalks that become hard and woody. The specific epithet unifoliolatus refers to the single leaf blade which is actually a compound leaf reduced to a single leaflet
